Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could find himself on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, with both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid among the increasingly large number of clubs following the England international.

FootballTransfers exclusively reported on Tuesday that Brighton are weighing up the potential of an ambitious bid for the 20-year-old.

While the player’s entourage is seen to be positive towards a move to the south coast, the possibility of moving to Real Madrid would be a hard one to turn down, and the indications are that Xabi Alonso’s club are ready to make a move.

“Both Madrid giants and a host of Premier League clubs including are monitoring the situation with Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo,” The Daily Mail reports.

“Real Madrid and Atletico are keeping tabs on the England international, who is struggling for game time under Ruben Amorim.

“Sources have disclosed that a season-long loan move could be of interest to those in the Spanish capital, with the transfer window due to close on Monday.”

Man Utd’s Mainoo transfer stance

Man Utd are said to be “unlikely” to sanction any move, particularly in the form of a loan deal.

Ruben Amorim’s side already look light in the midfield, where Mainoo is seen as the backup option to captain Bruno Fernandes, with Manuel Ugarte acting as the understudy to Casemiro.

The Red Devils have fought to bring another player into this area of their squad but have seen a move for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba rejected.

Mainoo has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €61 million, and though Man Utd need to make sales in order to make any late signings in the window, they have already earmarked the likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho as stars they would rather offload.
