Laura Woods, a British sports presenter, was left in stitches after a cringeworthy interview gaffe during the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight.
The Sky Sports presenter was interviewing the two fighters after the bout when she made the embarrassing mistake.
Woods was asking Paul about his victory when she accidentally referred to him as “Tommy”.
Paul, who had just defeated Fury, was quick to correct her, saying: “It’s Jake, not Tommy.”
Woods was left red-faced and immediately apologised for her mistake, saying: “Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”
The presenter then burst into laughter, as did Paul and Fury, who were both amused by the gaffe.
Woods then continued with the interview, asking Paul about his victory and his plans for the future.
The presenter’s mistake was met with a mixed reaction on social media, with some people finding it amusing and others criticising her for the blunder.
However, Woods took it all in her stride and later tweeted about the incident, saying: “When you get the names wrong in an interview…”
The tweet was accompanied by a GIF of her laughing, which showed that she was able to see the funny side of the situation.
Woods is no stranger to making mistakes on air, having previously made a similar gaffe when interviewing former England footballer Wayne Rooney.
The presenter accidentally referred to Rooney as “David”, prompting the former Manchester United star to correct her.
Woods’ latest gaffe may have been embarrassing, but it was certainly not the end of the world.
The presenter was able to laugh it off and move on, showing that she is able to take such mistakes in her stride.
