LIONEL MESSI’S goal drought continued as Paris Saint-Germain were dumped out of the French Cup on penalties at the hands of Nice – despite wearing his iconic No10.
The Argentine superstar, 34, has struggled in Paris since quitting Barcelona, with just ONE goal in 12 Ligue 1 games wearing his new No30.
On Monday night, Messi hoped to recreate a little of his old magic wearing Neymar’s No10 jersey.
Due to French Cup rules, players must line up in Nos 1-11 rather than their assigned Ligue 1 squad numbers.
And with Neymar still absent due to injury, Messi was given a one-off chance to wear the No10 he made his own at Barcelona.
But it failed to bring him any luck as he failed to score in 120 minutes of action.
PSG and Nice played out a 0-0 draw in their last 16 clash, with the game taken to extra-time, despite Kylian Mbappe’s second-half introduction – replacing the ineffective Mauro Icardi.
With neither side able to break the deadlock, the match went to penalties.

Messi took PSG’s first kick and did manage to find the net.
But misses from Leandro Paredes and sub Xavi Simons saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side knocked out.
Messi’s last goal in domestic football came way back in November during the 3-1 win over Nantes.
The ex-Barca whiz did score a double in the 4-1 Champions League win over Club Brugge on December 7.
But he is worryingly goalless since, with life in the French capital proving to be harder than expected.
PSG’s next game is a tough trip to Lille on Sunday in the league, with kick-off 7.45pm.
