Donald Trump was gushing to wife Melania about how ‘freaking magical’ the Club World Cup final was while watching Sunday’s game, a lip reader has revealed.
The President and the First Lady of the United States were both in attendance as Chelsea cruised to a shock 3-0 over Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to become champions of the world at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
After their victory, Trump then dominated headlines by gatecrashing Chelsea players’ celebrations and refusing to step aside when they lifted the trophy in an awkward moment which quickly went viral.
Blues superstars Cole Palmer and Reece James have since admitted they were left baffled by his decision to remain on the stage, which came before he was slowly pushed to the back of the group amid their wild celebrations.
Yet before making his way onto the field for the presentation, Trump was expressing his admiration for the whole spectacle while speaking with Melania in his VIP suite.
Lip reader Nicola Hickling has revealed to the Irish Star what the 79-year-old was saying to his wife as they watched game, and it was nothing short of positive about the soccer showpiece.

‘Wow, you can see each team. It looks so good. Fantastic,’ Trump is initially believed to have said, according to Hickling.
‘Good job. Wow. It’s so freaking magical.’
He is then said to have turned to Melania and asked her: ‘Sweetie, do you think it could’ve been any better?’
Trump added that he gets ‘such a rush just from being among it all’ before urging others in the box – which included FIFA President Gianni Infantino – to ‘look at it all’.
‘[It] looks amazing,’ he insisted.
Trump received a mixed reception from the plus-80,000 fans packed inside MetLife Stadium, with some boos heard for the President when he was first shown up on the big screen.
Another lip-reading expert has also lifted the lid on what he said to Chelsea players during the cringeworthy trophy-lift moment.
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman revealed Trump had words of admiration for Palmer, after watching him score twice in a resounding win for the London team.
He is also believed to have told Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer that he was a ‘big fan’ of his
‘Chelsea’s biggest fan. I’m a big fan of you. So well done you,’ Trump said, according to Freeman.
Palmer, who has be known to offer few words in post-match interviews, reportedly replied ‘Thank you’ before rejoining his team-mates.
Trump was given the honor of presenting the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James, under the impression that he would then step aside and let the celebrations commence.
Though as Infantino was seen attempting to usher him away from Chelsea players, Trump remained in place on either side of James and Sanchez.
His refusal to leave the stage left several players bewildered as Palmer appeared to ask: ‘What’s he doing?’.
Speaking post-match, the England international admitted: ‘I knew he was going to be here but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy so I was a bit confused, yeah.’
