Liverpool are planning to break the British transfer record twice in one summer as they go all-out for Newcastle superstar Alexander Isak.

That is according to the Evening Standard, who report that Liverpool have made Isak their number one target for the striker position.

This will break the British transfer record and make Wirtz the most expensive player in the history of the Premier League.

Isak to Liverpool?

After signing Wirtz and completing the formalities of another deal that will see Milos Kerkez arrive from Bournemouth, Liverpool will turn their attentions to the striker position.

Liverpool plan to sign a top number nine this summer, with Darwin Nunez set to be sold.

The Evening Standard reports that Liverpool are preparing a potential move for Isak, who they consider their dream striker.

Newcastle, though, have quoted Liverpool €175m in order to sell the Swede.

That would see Liverpool smash the British transfer record twice in one summer and take their total spending for the market to over €350m.

Isak has emerged as one of the best strikers in European football over the past couple of seasons.

He joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for €73m in 2022.

The 25-year-old has gone on to score 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle.

If Liverpool fail to sign Isak, their backup target is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

Ekitike will not come cheaply, either, as Frankfurt are asking for up to €100m.
