Liverpool are set to conduct major changes in their attack this summer, with the Anfield club having high hopes of landing Alexander Isak while Darwin Nunez departs.

Arne Slot’s side are in the midst of a historic summer spending spree and, according to Bild, it could become even more spectacular.

The Anfield club have already broken their transfer record this summer by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen but are willing to smash that figure in a deal for the Swede. It was previously thought that they would not sign both Isak and Ekitike, but the German source suggests that there is at least some chance that they could.

Newcastle, though, are reported by Sky Sport Deutschland to have made “significant progress” in a deal for Ekitike, suggesting the France international will be heading to St James’ Park. The silver lining for the Reds is, however, that he will replace Isak, whose natural destination is Anfield.

First striker closing in on Anfield move

While these two exciting deals are in the pipeline, the first No.9 that Liverpool will sign this summer represents an investment in the future.

Salford City striker Will Wright, who memorably made an appearance against Manchester City in the FA Cup, is set to hook up with the Merseyside outfit.

Football transfer news expert Ben Jacobs has confirmed that a deal is close.

“Liverpool are pushing to sign Salford City striker Will Wright for a six-figure sum,” he tweeted. “Several Premier League clubs are interested but Liverpool are currently in advanced talks.”

Arsenal and Manchester City were previously linked with the forward, who is strong, quick and thrives inside the opponents’ box.

Reports have indicated that the Reds could pay up to £300,000 (€345,000) to snap up the 17-year-old in a move that would represent the second-biggest deal in Salford’s history.

Wright has played four times for Salford’s first team but has yet to start a senior match or even score a goal. He has, however, been a prolific scorer at youth level, netting more than 40 goals this season for his current side.

Although he would be integrated into the academy side, such a signing shows Liverpool’s intent to build for the future and not just rely on mega-money transfers, like the Isak deal promises to be.
