In addition to Manchester City, Liverpool also held talks with Florian Wirtz on Tuesday, according to German media.
The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid looks increasingly likely to be on the move this summer as speculation surrounding his future reaches fever pitch. A top target for Bayern Munich and Man City, Wirtz has now also held talks with Liverpool.
The Wirtz family flew from Aachen Maastricht Airport to Blackpool Airport via private jet for discussions over a potential summer move. Initially, it was thought that the 22-year-old and his parents only met with officials from Man City.
However, both German outlets now claim that there was also a meeting with Liverpool chiefs before the family headed back to Germany in the late afternoon.
Bayern, Man City or Liverpool?
Liverpool are now firmly in the race to sign Wirtz, although it remains to be seen if they are willing to spend around €150 million on a player who, on the face of it, does not appear to be a priority target for them.
Signing Wirtz, who is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the world, would be a luxury for the Reds, not a necessity. Man City, meanwhile, are desperate to add him to their side as a replacement for Kevin de Bruyne.

For Bayern, Wirtz has been a dream target for years, with talks between club officials – particularly honorary president Uli Hoeness – and Wirtz’s father and agent Hans dating back all the way to 2020.
It was previously thought that Wirtz was only keen to head to Munich this summer, but this clearly is not the case, with the attacking midfielder now seriously thinking about a move to England.
Ideally, Leverkusen want to keep their wonderkid, but they appear to be fighting a losing battle at this stage, so they will be sure to do their part to convince Wirtz of a move to the Premier League as they do not under any circumstances want to do business with Bayern.
