Liverpool are bracing themselves for the sale of Luis Diaz and have already picked a replacement for the Colombia international star.

Luis Diaz has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions for much of this summer but has been priced out of a move to cash-strapped Barcelona.

Instead, Bayern Munich now look strong favourites to land the 24-year-old winger. According to TBR Football, the Bundesliga side are set to return with an €80 million bid for the attacker this week after having previous offers knocked back.

Rodrygo is Luis Diaz’s Anfield replacement

Liverpool have earmarked Real Madrid winger Rodrygo as their replacement for Luis Diaz and have stepped up their chase for the Brazil international, according to Foot Mercato.

The Reds are said to have opened talks with the player’s representatives over the feasibility of the move, but they do not stretch to offering the attacker personal terms or asking Real Madrid their asking price for the star.

“Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation of #Rodrygo as he is one of the candidates in case Luis Diaz leaves. Liverpool informed about conditions and current status,” Sky Sport Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg says.

“Real Madrid would be open to selling him. Rodrygo is aware of this, and the market is being explored. However, the package would be very expensive. The 24-year-old is reportedly already earning up to €10 million net per year.”

Plettenberg later added that PSG are also tracking Rodrygo but have yet to make a move.

Although Real Madrid are open to selling the player, it has been repeated regularly since the start of the transfer window that the South American will only be sold if he requests a move.

Los Blancos have been quoted as having a €100m asking price for Rodrygo.
