Liverpool have reportedly submitted their first official bid for Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz as they intensify their pursuit of the Germany international.
Wirtz has been heavily linked with a Leverkusen departure in recent months and he has decided to snub significant interest from Bayern Munich in order to join Liverpool during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Arne Slot’s side opened talks with Leverkusen last week and transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Liverpool have lodged their first official bid as they look to finalise the signing of Wirtz as soon as possible.
He posted on X: “Liverpool first official bid for Florian Wirtz in excess of €100m package with add-ons has been received by Bayer Leverkusen.
“Club to club negotiations underway, restarting today to get the deal done very soon. Wirtz already told Bayer that he only wants Liverpool.”
Previous reports have suggested that Wirtz may command a transfer fee of €150m this summer, but Liverpool are hoping to finalise a deal for a slightly reduced rate.
However, Wirtz will still usurp Darwin Nunez as Liverpool’s all-time record signing if his proposed move to Anfield goes through.

Florian Wirtz to join Liverpool
Wirtz, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €116.4m, has two years remaining on his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, although he is all but guaranteed to leave the club this summer.
He is set to follow current team-mate Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool, after rejecting the advances of Bayern Munich, and he is expected to play a pivotal role at Anfield if the Reds are able to reach an agreement with Leverkusen.
Wirtz scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances during the 2024-25 campaign and he was identified as Manchester City’s dream replacement for Kevin De Bruyne before they withdrew from contention to sign him earlier this month.
