The Citizens opened the scoring on 53 minutes with a brilliant run from Kevin de Bruyne, who laid the ball for Mahrez after a deflection off Lewis Dunk.
The winger then beat Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a fine finish from a tight angle down the right flank.
The hosts sealed the victory after 65 minutes with a fantastic finish by Foden.
Mahrez passed to the England international from a corner down the right side and the young forward fired a brilliant shot from 30 yards out that deflected off Enock Mwepu.
Silva added to the Seagulls’s misery on 82 minutes when De Bruyne picked up a poor kick from Sanchez and set the Portugal international up for the third.
