Manchester City kept up the pressure on Arsenal in the race for the English Premier League title with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Phil Foden opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the first half, before Bernardo Silva sealed the win with a late goal.
The result means City remain in second place in the table, two points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand.
City started the game brightly and had a number of chances to take the lead in the opening stages.
Raheem Sterling had a shot blocked by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, before Sergio Aguero fired wide from the edge of the box.
The home side eventually took the lead in the 25th minute, when Foden unleashed a powerful strike from 25 yards out that flew into the top corner of the net.
It was a stunning goal from the young midfielder, who has been in excellent form for City this season.
City continued to dominate the game and had a number of chances to extend their lead, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Newcastle had a few chances of their own, but were unable to find a way past City goalkeeper Ederson.
The game looked to be heading for a 1-0 win for City, but Silva sealed the win in the 87th minute with a close-range finish.
The result means City remain in the hunt for the title, and will be hoping to close the gap on Arsenal in the coming weeks.
It was a dominant performance from City, who showed why they are one of the favourites to win the title this season.
They will now turn their attention to their next game, which is away to West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.
