Man City midfielder James McAtee is currently in Germany to visit Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The England U21 star, who led the Young Lions to the European Championship in June, is on his way out of Man City, following in the footsteps of Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer two years ago.

Eminently talented, McAtee has struggled to get consistent minutes under Pep Guardiola and is now looking to leave his boyhood club for the good of his hugely promising career.

A host of clubs from England and the continent are keen on the versatile 22-year-old. FootballTransfers recently reported that Everton have held talks over a potential move for McAtee.

In addition to clubs from the Premier League, McAtee has most consistently received interest from the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen have been courting him since January, and the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt have also held talks in recent days and weeks.

McAtee travels to Frankfurt

According to Fabrizio Romano, a move to the Bundesliga is becoming increasingly plausible as McAtee has travelled to Frankfurt to visit the city and the facilities of Eintracht.

The Eagles have made a name for themselves as one of Europe’s best stepping-stone clubs over the past few years, and they will be playing in the Champions League next term.

As such, Frankfurt are trying to be ambitious in the market, and signing McAtee would certainly be a statement of intent. However, despite his arrival in the city, it seems that a move is not yet imminent.

It is important to keep in mind that Eintracht also invited Jobe Bellingham earlier this summer, only for the midfielder to end up joining Dortmund instead. Frankfurt are clearly pushing hard to secure the signature of McAtee, but it remains to be seen if their efforts will meet with success.
