Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Matheus Cunha, according to a report.
Club officials have made the need for summer reinforcements clear and Wolves forward Cunha has been a long-term target. He could now be set to become the Red Devils’ first summer signing.
Mail Sport reported in April that United were close to agreeing terms with Cunha before activating his £62.5million release clause at Wolves. The Brazilian has made his desire to leave his current club clear for a number of months.
Amorim, meanwhile, has made no secret of his admiration for Cunha. He was spotted in conversation with him after United lost 2-0 at Molineux in December and again in the tunnel in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last month.
Amorim insisted ‘every player’ wants to play for United but refused to comment directly on United’s blossoming interest in Cunha.
But now, according to Uol, Cunha is on the verge of signing his United contract while the club still have financial headroom ahead of the summer.
