Manchester United’s hunt for a striker in the summer is taking them across Europe, with Ruben Amorim’s side ready to give a player who was once a Premier League flop a second chance.
Moise Kean of Fiorentina has been reborn since moving to Florence and is currently the second-leading marksman in Serie A with 17 goals, trailing only Mateo Retegui of Atalanta.
A physical monster, he would appear well suited to Premier League football yet struggled in a previous spell with Everton.
FootMercato reports that he has a better attitude than ever, with United impressed with his increased maturity and commitment.
And they are not alone. The 25-year-old former Everton hitman has attracted numerous clubs and it is “expected to be tough” to sign him.
While he may not be the world-renowned striker that Man Utd are hoping for, it is believed that should they fail to qualify for the Champions League, Kean or Victor Osimhen are the two targets they have in mind.
Amorim’s side, however, are just one game away from the European Cup next season, having obliterated Athletic Club in the semi-final of the Europa League 7-1 on aggregate.
Kean an awkward fit for Amorim
Kean is not seen as a natural fit at Man Utd by data analytics experts SciSports, which suggests that he is not particularly well suited to Amorim’s style of football or 3-4-3 formation.
United are given a Club Fit score of 69 by the firm. This is based around numerous factors, including his potential to reach his best level and playing time, as well as how the coach is likely to set the team up.
By contrast, Arsenal are seen as a better option for Kean, with a big Club Fit score of 83.
While Man Utd would struggle to help the former PSG loanee realise his full potential, Mikel Arteta’s side get five stars in this regard, while they are also seen as a strong fit in terms of system and style.
Arsenal are not expected to move for Kean while he seems very much a ‘Plan B’ for the Red Devils, too.
