Manchester United have dropped a major hint that Alejandro Garnacho could be set to remain at the club this summer despite being given additional time off to resolve his future.
Garnacho was one of a number of stars, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony, who were allowed to delay their return to pre-season training this week in order to find new clubs, with United keen to part ways with all three players this summer.
However, ESPN report that Garnacho has been given permission to rejoin his teammates at the Carrington training facility despite the uncertainty around his future.
Garnacho is said to have strong interest in him from teams across the Premier League and Europe but no side has been willing to meet United’s price tag as of yet, which is thought to be in excess of €50 million.
With more than three years remaining on his contract, United may still look to keep hold of Garnacho, at least in the short-term until their valuation is met despite the Argentine having seemingly burned his bridges with manager Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho still on course for United departure despite u-turn
Garnacho was once considered untouchable and the jewel in United’s crown but a season of inconsistent displays and attitude concerns has led to the 21-year-old being told he can leave the club this summer.
United had fielded interest from Chelsea in January but they could not agree a fee for the winger and the Blues have now signed alternative options, effectively ending their pursuit.
The likes of Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen are still understood to be interested in Garnacho but they will seemingly wait until towards of the end of the summer when United could be forced to lower their asking price.
However, like with Rashford, Sancho and Antony, United are desperate for a big sale this summer in order to continue their spending, with no further purchases expected to be possible until then once the signing of Bryan Mbeumo is completed, assuming a fee is agreed to buy the Brentford forward.
