Manchester United will make a new bid for Bryan Mbeumo in the coming days – and this could be the offer that gets the deal over the line.
Football Insider reports that United will launch an improved offer this week to Brentford and they are confident of completing the transfer.
Former Man Utd chief scout Mick Brown is Football Insider’s inside man at Old Trafford, and he says that the deal can now be considered close to completion.

What did Brown say?
“Man United are close to signing Mbeumo,” Brown told Football Insider.
“They’ve had a couple of bids rejected, but they’re not giving up.
“He has made Brentford, and everybody else by the sounds of things, aware that he wants to join Man United and isn’t interested in staying.
“That weakens their negotiating position slightly, but they still want to get a good fee.
“United are going to make another bid in the coming days and they’re confident they can get it done.
“From what I hear, I’m expecting things to speed up soon and I think it will go ahead.”
FootballTransfers revealed last week that United had a second €73 million bid for Brentford star Mbeumo rejected.
Duncan Castles, speaking to the Transfers Podcast in conjunction with FootballTransfers, explained that Brentford are steadfastly sticking to the €82m demand that they laid out to the Red Devils at the beginning of their negotiations.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Transfers Podcast, he explained: “Manchester United’s offer for Mbeumo has not reached the level that Brentford expect. There’s been a fair bit of reporting on this again over the last week, with people saying an agreement is in place and a medical has been pencilled in.
“The guidance I have is that this is not the case. The current offer from Manchester United, the realistic value – i.e. the guaranteed fee plus the bonuses that could realistically be triggered over his career at the club – is over £60m.
“However, Brentford have had an asking price from the beginning that they want £70m guaranteed for the player. And so far they haven’t shifted from that line.”
Mbeumo has already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2030 with the option of another year until 2031.
Mbeumo enjoyed a superb 2024-25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists.
Ruben Amorim plans to play Mbeumo behind a striker, but he can also feature out wide and as a centre-forward.
Man Utd have already confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha for a whopping €74 million, with the Brazilian expected to occupy one of the two No.10 positions in Ruben Amorim’s side.
