Manchester United may finally be making progress in the transfer market after recent developments which could help pave the way to finally signing Bryan Mbeumo.

With the €74 million signing of Matheus Cunha being the only major arrival of the summer, United are desperate to continue strengthening after seeing their momentum grind to a halt due to negotiations over Mbeumo.

United have been operating under tight constraints due to PSR but they may have found some relief, with a number of sell-on clauses materialising to net the club close to €20m in the last week.

Maxi Oyedele became the latest ex-United player to secure a new club this summer, with Strasbourg paying Legia Warsaw €6m for the youngster, €2.5m of which the Red Devils will net due to a 40% sell-on clause.

United also netted €8m from Alvaro Carreras joining Real Madrid this week from Benfica, while Anthony Elanga’s move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle also generated €7m, giving Amorim some crucial additional funds to work with.

United progress appears close as Brentford target Mbeumo replacement

Including Chelsea’s €6m penalty for opting against the permanent signing of Jadon Sancho at the start of the summer, United have accumulated more money through indirect means than from regular sales, with no players having been sold for fees so far.

United know that cashing in on Sancho, Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho could be the key to making additional signings, as well as closing negotiations for Mbeumo, but they have yet to receive satisfactory offers for any of their unwanted stars.

Brentford could target Omari Hutchinson as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo.

But progress could be made in another way for United, with Brentford seemingly already working on a deal for Mbeumo’s replacement by opening talks with Ipswich to sign right-winger Omari Hutchinson.

Brentford have seen a €40m bid rejected by Ipswich for Hutchinson and, with the Bees’ current transfer record sitting at €8.5m, their interest suggests they may be gearing up for a major sale, likely to be Mbeumo’s move to Manchester, indicating that a conclusion could be approaching imminently.
