Goncalo Ramos is the latest Portuguese talent to be scouted by Manchester United, with the Red Devils reportedly keen to bring the 18-year-old to Old Trafford.
The Benfica youngster has been tipped to become the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at the club, and United are said to be willing to pay a mammoth transfer fee to secure his services.
Ramos has been a regular in Benfica’s first team since the start of the season, and has already made 11 appearances in the Primeira Liga. He has also featured in the Champions League, and has been a regular in the Portuguese national team’s youth setup.
The 18-year-old is a versatile player, capable of playing in a variety of positions across the midfield and attack. He is a creative player, with an eye for goal, and is known for his ability to pick out a pass.
Ramos is also a hard-working player, and is willing to put in the effort to help his team. He is a strong tackler, and is not afraid to put in a challenge when needed.
United have been tracking Ramos for some time, and are said to be willing to pay a fee of around £50 million to secure his services. This would make him the most expensive Portuguese player in history, and would be a huge statement of intent from the Red Devils.
However, Benfica are said to be unwilling to let Ramos leave for anything less than £70 million, and United may have to dig deep into their pockets if they are to land their man.
Ramos is a hugely talented player, and could be the perfect long-term replacement for Ronaldo at Old Trafford. However, United will have to be willing to pay a hefty fee if they are to secure his services.
