Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is reportedly interested in joining Manchester United this summer.
The England international has been linked with a Villa Park departure for several months and he is now open to completing a move to Ruben Amorim’s side if the opportunity arises, according to GiveMeSport.
The 29-year-old scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions last season, and Man Utd view him as a player who would add much-needed quality to Amorim’s forward line.
Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with Watkins in recent months, although the former have ended their pursuit as they look to finalise a deal for the aforementioned Gyokeres, while the latter opted to purchase Joao Pedro and Delap instead.
As a result, Man Utd are one of the frontrunners to prise Watkins away from Aston Villa this summer and the Englishman is now willing to complete an Old Trafford switch, despite their failure to qualify for European football last season.
Man Utd’s summer transfer plans
In addition to Watkins, Man Utd are also interested in signing Fiorentina’s Moise Kean and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers back in May.
Amorim is determined to sign a new striker following Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form last season, although the Red Devils are yet to make significant transfer progress as they remain focused on finalising a deal for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.
They have been locked in talks to sign the Cameroon international for several weeks and they are eager to announce his arrival before their first Premier League fixture of the 2025-26 season against Arsenal on 17 August.
