Bruno Fernandes has decided to remain at Manchester United until at least 2026, despite reports of renewed interest from Saudi Arabia.

The Portugal international was heavily linked with a move to Al-Hilal at the start of the summer transfer window, but he snubbed the chance to join the Saudi Pro League outfit in favour of extending his stay at Old Trafford.

That is according to football transfer news expert Ben Jacobs, who posted on X: “Bruno Fernandes plans to stay at least one more year at Manchester United.

“Al-Nassr made an informal approach, following on from Al-Hilal’s attempt to sign Fernandes before the Club World Cup.

“Fernandes’ position remains firm. He wants to stay at Man Utd and continue playing in Europe.”

Bruno Fernandes to stay at Man Utd

News that Fernandes wants to stay at Man Utd will be welcomed by Ruben Amorim, who will once again rely on the 30-year-old next campaign.

The Portugal superstar notched 38 goal contributions in 57 games last season and he was a rare bright spark in an extremely disappointing year for the Red Devils.

However, he is expected to be utilised in a deeper role next campaign following Man Utd’s decision to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Cunha and Mbeumo are set to play behind Rasmus Hojlund next year, with Man Utd yet to purchase a new centre forward, and Fernandes is therefore expected to feature alongside Manuel Ugarte in a midfield pivot.

Although Amorim is extremely unlikely to lose Fernandes this summer, he is still eager to trim down the first-team squad at his disposal.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony have all been deemed surplus to requirements by the Man Utd boss, while Andre Onana has also been linked with a departure amid the Red Devils’ interest in Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
