Ruben Amorim considers Diogo Dalot ‘untouchable’ this summer, which has prompted Manchester United to alter their transfer plans, according to a report.

The Red Devils are gearing up for a huge summer window. The first of what is expected to be many signings will be Matheus Cunha, with the Wolves forward set to join for around €74 million.

However, it seems that Amorim no longer feels that this is a particularly urgent priority. According to TEAMtalk, Man Utd will not sign a right-sided wing-back as the head coach has been delighted with Diogo Dalot’s performances.

In fact, the Portugal international is, surprisingly, one of just three players Amorim considers ‘untouchable’ this summer.

Amorim loves Dalot

The report claims that Amorim currently views three players as crucial to his long-term project, with Dalot joined on this list by Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.

The 26-year-old, who is currently nursing a calf injury, has been virtually ever-present under Amorim when fully fit, making 33 appearances for his compatriot so far.

Despite previously being derided for his lack of attacking output, Dalot has contributed three goals and three assists since Amorim’s arrival. He initially started out as a left wing-back, but he made the right wing-back position his own prior to his injury.

Bizarrely, the report asserts that Man Utd will look to sign a new left wing-back this summer despite bringing in Patrick Dorgu for €30m in January. It is claimed that Amorim wants more competition for the Dane, with Luke Shaw set to play centre-back.
