A Manchester United fan has set up a GoFundMe page in an attempt to raise money for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba.
Ruben Amorim’s side have reportedly initiated contact over a move for the 21-year-old as they look to sound out the feasibility of a potential deal this summer.
Man Utd are currently prioritising a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, and their poor history of selling assets suggest they may struggle to land Baleba in addition to the Slovenia international.
However, one Man Utd fan, named Ian, has started a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise the money needed to sign Baleba, according to The Daily Mail.
Ian is aiming to raise an ambitious £120m to fund a move for the Brighton midfielder and the fundraiser description reads: “We need this to happen, we need this to happen, we need this to happen, we need this to happen.”
Carlos Baleba to join Man Utd?
Although Man Utd are interested in finalising a deal for Baleba this summer, Brighton chairman Paul Barber has revealed that Amorim’s side are yet to submit a formal approach for the 21-year-old.
“We’ve got some great talent, there’s always going to be interest in our players,” he told BBC Radio Sussex.
“Man Utd have not been in touch with me. So from that point of view, speculation is speculation. We will always try to make sure we sell our best players at the right time, not just for the player but for us.
“If we end up doing that with any player, it’s with the view to leave Fabian with a very competitive squad, whatever happens. We don’t want to sell our best players.
“Carlos is a fantastic talent who has a lot of years ahead of him. We hope he will be here for many years to come. But it’s something that, as always, is subjective to the dynamics of the football world which isn’t always predictable.”
Baleba has racked up 77 first-team appearances for Brighton since his arrival from Lille, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €55.3m.
