Manchester United have been left amazed by a transfer rumour linking one of their outstanding players with a summer move to Real Madrid.

While Fabrizio Romano has detailed the possibility of Man Utd losing Bruno Fernandes to Al-Hilal in a deal that head coach Ruben Amorim is set to protest, a report from Spain suggests that Leny Yoro could be on his way to the Bernabeu in the summer.

In a surprise rumour reported by Defensa Central, it is claimed that Yoro regrets joining Man Utd and has asked his agent to help him join Real Madrid with immediate effect.

Los Blancos were interested in signing Yoro prior to his switch to Old Trafford from Lille last summer, yet the Red Devils were proactive and were able to land the promising young Frenchman in a deal worth €60 million.

Real Madrid still need to sign at least one centre-back this summer, but they have been more interested in Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and even Arsenal star William Saliba.

It is claimed that Man Utd would be seeking a profit on their initial outlay on Yoro, who has hit a career-high Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €71m.

Beyond the unlikeliness of United being open to selling a player still under contract until 2029, Madrid will not be willing to pay the type of money the Old Trafford side would no doubt demand for the player.

Yoro speaks out on his Man Utd future

Yoro spoke out about his future at Man Utd following the club’s successful progression to the Europa League final and, unsurprisingly, he has no plans to go back on his initial decision to move to Old Trafford.

“It was difficult for me in the beginning with the injury and even with my performances on the pitch when I first returned,” he told the media. “But now I’m 100 per cent, I start to be good and I hope to be like that until the end of the season and into next season.”

Yoro was also flattered by comparisons to Red Devils legends Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Matic and Raphael Varane.

He added: “When you play for Manchester United, you need to feel this history – this is a club of trophies. I think it will be important to think about this, we’re Manchester United and need to win trophies.

“I’m still a young player, but on the pitch, this means nothing. When you join a big club like Man Utd, you have to settle quickly because the fans are waiting for you, even with a big transfer like I had. So yeah, it was important to settle really quickly.”

Yoro’s start to life at Man Utd was hampered by a foot injury that kept him out for four months, but he has still managed to make 31 appearances in an impressive debut campaign.
