Manchester United have been told to lower their demands if they are to have any hope of offloading Jadon Sancho.

The winger arrived at Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund to much fanfare in the summer of 2021, but has not lived up to his hefty €85 million transfer fee and has been sent out on loan twice after falling out of favour.

In September of 2023, he was left out of the United squad for a match against Arsenal, with manager Erik ten Hag complaining about his performances in training. That fallout led to a loan move back to Dortmund in January of 2024 – and he actually helped BVB reach the Champions League final.

The 25-year-old is not wanted by current boss Ruben Amorim, but so far the club has been unable to find a suitor, and this is apparently due to their asking price of around €25, according to transfer intermediary Vincenzo Morabito.

“Ruben Amorim has made it very clear he does not want Sancho or Marcus Rashford in pre-season training,” Morabito told Radio CRC.

“Manchester United are going to have to lower their expectations for Sancho, because they cannot ask for €25m for a player who has one year left on his contract and earns €18m per season wages.

“This operation is feasible, but we need to see how tough Manchester United can be holding out here, because Sancho is a good player and did pretty well at Chelsea. Cristiano Giuntoli wanted to bring him to Juventus last year, but then it didn’t go through.”

Who will sign Jadon Sancho?

Sancho has been linked with a number of clubs recently including Aston Villa, Newcastle, Napoli and Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal and Ittihad Club.

Due to his high wages, the most likely scenario for the player would be a move to Saudi Arabia unless he is willing to take a significant pay cut to remain in Europe.

This past season in the Premier League, he scored three goals and recorded four assists in 31 matches.
