Manchester United are still interested in long-standing target Felix Nmecha, according to a report.

The Red Devils are set to lose midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer when his deal expires on 30 June. The Denmark international’s terms were not renewed by the club, and he will leave Manchester after two years.

Reinforcing the midfield is not Man Utd’s most pressing priority, but it is an objective for this summer, with Ruben Amorim known to be keen to beef up his options.

As a result, Man Utd are once again interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, who was already a target in previous summers due to his solid performances as a box-to-box midfielder in the Bundesliga.

Man Utd want Nmecha

According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, the Red Devils’ interest in Nmecha is genuine, but it seems that no talks have as yet taken place. Dortmund, he states, don’t want to sell the Germany international, who currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €30.9 million.

“Manchester United are interested in Felix Nmecha,” Falk told CaughtOffside. “The international has a growing market in the Premier League, speaks English as a second language, and already knows Manchester from his youth days at United’s rivals City.

“Dortmund are fighting for their player and do not want to sell him under any circumstances.” Nmecha is under contract with the Bundesliga side until 2028, so BVB will feel well protected.

However, Man Utd would be well-advised to make a move for the 24-year-old. According to data analytics firm SciSports, he would be a clear upgrade on Eriksen.

In fact, Nmecha is also deemed a better player than Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo right now, although the latter obviously still has huge potential.
