Paul Pogba should be a serious option for Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to Old Trafford legend Dwight Yorke.
Pogba currently finds his career in limbo after a two-year spell out following a failed drug test but is now eligible to play professional football once more and can be signed as a free agent.
Man Utd, meanwhile, face a difficult summer following their Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur, which has left the board with many difficult questions to answer.
Man Utd have to consider Pogba – Yorke
With Financial Fair Play (FFP) set to curtail the ambitions of Ruben Amorimās side in the transfer market, treble-winner Yorke believes that Pogba has to be seen as a legitimate option for his former side.
āI think Paul is an option, looking at where the football club is at the moment,ā he said.
āI donāt think United can afford not to consider a move for Pogba, because heās coming back with a point to prove. It’s a second – maybe a third – chance for Pobga to show that heās still one of the best, and he can do it at Manchester United.
– Dwight Yorke on Paul Pogba
āI think he still believes heās been harshly treated over the last few years and by whatās happened. Heād get a platform at United to turn their fortunes around. Thereās a lot to like about the transfer. You could sense that it might be the right occasion to take a punt on him. Youāve got to think a little deeper about what heās bringing to the table. Look at what his motivation is now, and if he makes the current squad better.
āIf I was in charge, giving him the chance to redeem himself on a huge stage, I would seriously consider it.ā
Pogba is Man Utdās most expensive signing ever, having arrived from Juventus for ā¬105 million in the summer of 2016. He struggled to live up to that billing, with the World Cup winner often accused of having a lacklustre attitude and lacking focus on his football.
Yorke clearly believes, though, that Pogba, who has also been linked with MLS, would be coming back a changed man after several difficult years.
