Manchester United have reportedly held “exploratory talks” with Hugo Ekitike’s representatives as they intensify their pursuit of the Eintracht Frankfurt striker.
Ekitike, 22, has emerged as a key transfer target for Ruben Amorim’s side in recent weeks and they are now in discussions over a possible move during the 2025 summer transfer window.
As a result, Man Utd have been forced to pursue alternative options and they have identified Ekitike, who is also wanted by Chelsea and Liverpool, as a primary target.
The 20-time English top flight champions have already held talks with Ekitike’s camp, as per Fabrizio Romano and ESPN, while The Times and The Athletic have confirmed that Man Utd are considering a summer move for the Frenchman.
Eintracht Frankfurt are, however, holding out for a €100 million transfer fee, with the Bundesliga side currently unwilling to lower their valuation as Ekitike still has four years remaining on his contract at the club.
He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances last season, and CaughtOffside have revealed that Man Utd may look to include Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee in a swap deal bid in an attempt to reduce their potential outlay on the France U21 international.

Man Utd’s new-look attack
In addition to Ekitike, Man Utd are also hoping to finalise a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who has reportedly set his sights on an Old Trafford move despite significant interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
FootballTransfers understands that Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is also eager to join Man Utd this summer, while Jean-Philippe Mateta, Randal Kolo Muani and Jonathan David have been linked with a move amid Amorim’s push to bring a new centre forward to the club.
