Luis Suarez is one of a number of Inter Miami players out of contract at the end of the MLS season and the former Liverpool star’s future has now been revealed.

Suarez is out of contract in December 2025 along with club-mate Lionel Messi.

AS reports that Suarez is destined to leave Inter Miami at the end of his deal.

“The Uruguayan has a contract until the end of the year and almost certainly won’t renew with the Herons. It’s a decision that’s been under consideration since his extension back in January when the team’s participation in the Club World Cup was considered,” the Spanish source reports.

Inter Miami’s stance has been fuelled by the fact that they want to free up a Designated Player spot, with Suarez’s salary one of the highest at the club.

Although he only joined the club last year, he has netted 34 goals, putting him second behind only Messi in terms of franchise history. He also commands enormous respect in the locker room.

What next for Luis Suarez?

Having battled knee problems in recent seasons, it looks likely that Suarez will hang up his boots when he leaves Inter Miami.

Retirement is certainly a serious consideration for the 38-year-old, according to AS.

Back in 2023, he hinted at this possibility as he said: “It’s my body that’s talking, and the pain I feel every day is a lot. I’ve earned the right to decide, to say enough, and to enjoy wherever I play.

“I need to rest, enjoy my family, and fate will know where I’ll be in the future. If I go to a club, it’s to win; otherwise, I’d retire. You’re stubborn. You want to keep enjoying yourself.”

Suarez is said to be aiming to go out on a high by helping Inter Miami and Messi to the MLS title.
