The last several months have been filled with stress and upheaval for LeBron James.
During the winter, he had to carry an incomplete and unbalanced Los Angeles Lakers roster, especially while co-superstar Anthony Davis recovered from a stress injury in his right foot. The burden of doing so may have led to James having his own foot ailments.
One of those ailments caused him to miss a month of action late in the season. By then, the Lakers were reborn again as a championship contender thanks to trades that brought them Rui Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell and Jarred Vanderbilt.
They made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals, only to get swept there by the Denver Nuggets, which led James to suggest he would consider retirement. Luckily, he confirmed a few weeks ago that he will return this fall for his 21st season after all.
Then came the health scare involving his son just days ago.
But the elder James still seems to be in good spirits. He was seen rocking out and singing along to “This Place Hotel,” a 1980 song by the Jackson 5 in which the late Michael Jackson sang the vocals (h/t The Cold Wire).
The start of training camp still seems somewhat distant, but it will arrive in late September. Until then, the man nicknamed “King James” will have plenty of time to sing along to some of the greatest hits performed by the “King of Pop.”
