Newcastle Join Liverpool in Race for Mason Mount Transfer

Newcastle United have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Chelsea contract rebel Mason Mount ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a key player for the Blues this season, making 33 appearances in all competitions and scoring seven goals.

However, his current contract is set to expire in 2022 and he has yet to agree to an extension, leading to speculation that he could be on the move this summer.

According to reports, Newcastle have now entered the race for Mount, with Liverpool also said to be interested in the England international.

The Magpies are reportedly keen to add some creativity to their midfield and see Mount as the perfect addition to their squad.

Mount has been a regular starter for Chelsea this season and has been praised for his performances, with manager Thomas Tuchel recently hailing him as a “top player”.

The youngster has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, but it appears that Newcastle and Liverpool are the two clubs leading the race for his signature.

It remains to be seen if either club will be able to convince Mount to make the move, but it is clear that they are both keen to add him to their squads.

Mount has been a key player for Chelsea this season and it would be a huge blow for the Blues if he were to leave.

However, with his contract set to expire in 2022, it appears that the club may have to cash in on him this summer or risk losing him for nothing.

Only time will tell if Newcastle or Liverpool will be able to secure the services of the talented midfielder, but it is clear that they are both keen to add him to their squads.
