49ers star player misses practice with hamstring issue

The 49ers’ offense has been ravaged by injuries early this season, and the team was dealt another blow on Thursday as tight end George Kittle missed practice with a hamstring injury.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the five-time Pro Bowler is experiencing tightness in the area, and his status for his team’s game vs. the Rams on Sunday is up in the air.

His injury comes after Christian McCaffrey was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury and Achilles tendonitis, ruling him out until at least Week 5.

Receiver Deebo Samuel is also dealing with a calf problem, which coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday would sideline him for ‘probably a couple of weeks.’

Meanwhile, Shanahan also said earlier this week that ‘nobody knows’ how long McCaffrey will be out.

Samuel picked up the injury late on in Sunday’s 23-17 upset loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Shanahan confirmed.

Kittle has been mostly durable the last few seasons in San Francisco, playing 14, 15 and 16 games respectively out of a possible 17.

He suffered a broken foot in 2020 and missed eight regular season games.

Kittle, 30, was a first-team All-Pro last year as he reeled in 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns.

The 49ers will hope to have him on the field for their NFC West clash vs. the Rams on Sunday, which kicks off at 4:25ET (1:25 local time).
