From one former Green Bay Packers quarterback to another, Brett Favre has pleaded with free-agent Aaron Rodgers to sign with another team the NFL Hall of Famer played for – the Minnesota Vikings.
Rodgers is testing the open market for the first time in his two-decade NFL career, with the limited options dwindling for the 41-year-old.
The New York Giants still appear to have the inside track to landing Rodgers, with four other teams appearing to have a need that the future Hall of Famer could fill, with the Vikings likely the best team among that group.
The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns are less-likely options due to their high NFL Draft position, with the Pittsburgh Steelers also in the discussion due to Justin Fields going to Rodgers’ former team, the New York Jets.
Despite the constant comparisons between Rodgers and himself only growing should the former go to Minnesota, Favre signed off on the move.
‘By all means sign with them,’ Favre said on Fox News. ‘They’ve got a really good football team, they’re loaded at pretty much every position.’

Favre himself played for the Packers, Jets and Vikings before retiring from the NFL in 2010
It was Favre who spent much of his NFL career with the Packers before a short stint with the Jets, before finishing his career with the Vikings. Favre did get drafted and spend his rookie season with the Falcons in a minor difference between the two.
The Vikings have a need at quarterback with Sam Darnold moving on to the Seahawks, Daniel Jones finding a new home with the Colts, and apparent incumbent JJ McCarthy coming back from a major injury.
Looking for a short-term signal caller while McCarthy learns the offense is a similar passing of the torch moment that Favre had with Rodgers, and Rodgers had in Green Bay with Jordan Love.
The Steelers also still could bring back Russell Wilson, which would take them out of the Rodgers sweepstakes.
The Vikings do have one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL, Justin Jefferson, who would likely be the best wideout Rodgers has ever played with should he end up in the Twin Cities.
Minnesota did win 14 games last season and were a Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions away from being the No 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
The Vikings also have former Packer Aaron Jones at running back and a stout defense to keep up with the stiff competition in the NFC North.
A Rodgers return to Lambeau in purple would be appointment television, just like when Favre did it in 2009.
