The Lions have placed star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on injured reserve following his sickening leg break on Sunday.
The 24-year-old, the NFL’s sack leader for 2024, was rushed to hospital following the gruesome injury during Detroit’s victory over the Cowboys.
Hutchinson had emergency surgery in Texas to repair his fractured tibia and fibula but he now faces a long road back to the field.
On Tuesday, the Lions confirmed that the defensive star had been placed on injury reserve alongside defensive tackle Kyle Peko.
Hutchinson is slated to return to Detroit this week and is expected to make a full recovery, although the team has not yet set a timeline for his return to play.

The 24-year-old was selected second overall in the 2022 NFL draft. He has gone on to become a crucial player in the Lions’ journey to becoming Super Bowl contenders.
The injury occurred when Hutchinson attempted to tackle Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
His leg appeared to snap above the ankle when it collided with the left leg of teammate Alim McNeill.
There was a delay of around 10 minutes as medical personnel tended to Hutchinson, while players from both teams formed a large circle around the defensive end.

On Monday, Lions coach Dan Campbell was asked if he believed his team could win the Super Bowl without their star defensive end.
‘My job is to coach what’s here and I’m going to coach the hell out of them – and we are as a staff. So yeah, I do. And if we get somebody, great. If we don’t, these are our guys,’ he said.
‘And the coaches know that. This is what we came into camp with. This is why we develop talent and it’s next man up. They have to be ready to go.’
