With speculation surrounding the future plans of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, his head coach offered a suggestion for a future career path were he to hang up the pads.

Rumors about Kelce’s future have been circulating throughout the 2024 season as the star tight end experienced something of a slump production-wise during the regular season.

While one source exclusively told DailyMail.com that Kelce’s current plans are to continue playing, those plans could always change.

When he decides to call it a career, it’s not exactly clear what Kelce would do for a living afterwards – but he does have plenty of options.

One could involve staying in football, a suggestion offered up by head coach Andy Reid.

Speaking to FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, Reid was asked about what coaching Kelce this season has been like and if he gives him a certain amount of leeway. In his answer, Reid suggested that Kelce ‘would be a heck of a football coach’.

‘Yeah, I’d probably say yes, to be honest with you, because I’ve been around him for so long. We’ve had him my whole duration here. I know where he’s at physically, mentally, I know what he can do in games. We try to utilize him.

‘I also know what’s around him, which helps him because for a while there, we were banged up a little bit and guys were trying to learn. He was being double-teamed, and that wasn’t as good for him.

‘But Travis would be a heck of a football coach. He’s able to get up there and explain things and teach these young guys exactly what he sees and feels. Not that they all have that same talent, but he’s got a good feel for the game.’

Retirement rumors will have to wait a little bit – with Kelce expected to play a starring role in Super Bowl LIX in the coming weeks.

The 35-year-old only caught two passes for 19 yards in the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. However, the week prior, he caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Divisional round against the Houston Texans.

Kelce will be playing the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.
