Browns fans demand benching of Deshaun Watson over assault allegations

Cleveland Browns fans are calling for Deshaun Watson to get benched as the quarterback deals with sexual assault allegations.

The Browns were 1-1 heading into their Week 3 matchup against the struggling New York Giants. However, after an underwhelming performance in the 21-15 loss on Sunday, fans expressed their displeasure with the quarterback and the team.

At halftime, the Browns got booed off the field as they trailed 21-7. Additionally, fans expressed their opinions on Watson’s recent form.

‘Every week for the past 3 years Deshaun Watson has looked like the worst QB in the NFL and there are still people that claim he’s just a little rusty,’ one fan wrote.

‘Legitimately not sure there are 5 starting QBs in the league worse than Deshaun Watson,’ another added. ‘This guys accuracy is among the worst I’ve ever seen.’

Watson performed poorly and was sacked eight times in Cleveland’s 21- 15 loss to the Giants 

‘The Browns and Deshaun Watson deal is the worst deal in history and I’m positive it will never be topped,’ said a third.

Brown, whose on-field struggles have been linked to his battles outside the NFL, looked indecisive during the loss.

While they were able to close the gap in the second half, Brown only completed 21 of 37 attempts for 196 yards. Despite throwing for two touchdowns, the fans were unhappy with their quarterback getting sacked eight times in the contest.

While it ended up being his best outing this season, supporters were not content without getting a win over another struggling side.

Watson completed 22 of 34 attempts for 186 yards in an 18-13 win against the Jaguars in Week 2. Before then, he made 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown in a 33-17 loss to the Cowboys.

On September 22, it was reported that Watson struggled mentally due to the sexual assault allegations he’s dealing with off the field.

Watson has been the center of several court cases over the past three seasons, previously reaching confidential settlements with 20 women over sexual misconduct lawsuits that saw him suspended for 11 games during the 2022 season.

Legendary QB Warren Moon believes that the off-field drama is affecting Watson in games

Earlier this month, it was revealed that he is being sued for more than $1million by a new woman, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her in Texas four years ago.

‘He’s still dealing with a lot of that crap that he dealt with a couple of years ago with the lawsuits and all that,’ former quarterback Warren Moon told TMZ. ‘And now, all of the sudden, another lawsuit comes up.

‘It seems like just when he’s starting to maybe get his career back on track from getting over the lawsuits — and then the injuries that he’s had the last couple years — here comes another one.’

‘It seems like every time he goes out on the field he’s playing with a heavy mind and he’s not able to focus on the game,’ Warren added. ‘He’s probably trying a little bit too hard. He’s pressing. And he’s just not able to play the way he’s capable of playing.’

With a 1-2 start this season, the Browns will embark on a three-game road trip with stops in Las Vegas, Washington, and Philadelphia.
