Micah Parsons has come under fire over astonishing comments he made about Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy after Sunday’s defeat by the Eagles.
McCarthy is under increasing pressure after four consecutive losses but Parsons claimed his ‘sympathy and hurt’ instead lay with others who had ‘put in more time and work’ than the head coach.
Speaking in the locker room after the 34-6 loss to Philadelphia, Parsons claimed McCarthy – a Super Bowl winning coach – would have no issue finding another job.
The linebacker, a former first-round draft pick, said he chases victory for teammates such as Zack Martin.
‘Mike can leave and go wherever he wants,’ he said. ‘Guys I kind of feel bad for (are) guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year or on their way out.

‘Because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.
‘Those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.’
Parsons’ comments drew a furious reaction from some ex-players and coaches, including Rex Ryan – who branded Parsons an ‘a**’ who talks ‘total BS’ – and Damien Woody.
‘I’ve never heard anyone say anything remotely like that,’ Woody told ESPN Get Up. ‘Who the hell does Micah Parsons think he is talking like that after a game?
‘Bro, you’ve been missing all these games with injury and last time I checked, the head coach is a Super Bowl-winning coach.
‘I know the season hasn’t gone the way everyone expected it to go.
‘But for you to sit there in the locker room – right after your team gets pummeled – and just undress your head coach in that manner… there used to be a time where there was a little bit of respect and decorum in the locker room.’
Ryan echoed Woody’s comments, telling ESPN: ‘If you worked half as fricking hard as the damn coach does, maybe you’d be able to play every game… you’re going to sell your damn coach out? It’s a crock of you-know-what.’
Parsons accused analysts of ‘twisting’ his words and ‘flipping them around for content’, branding it ‘nasty work’.
