MIAMI GARDENS — Keidron Smith led the Dolphins with two pass breakups in Friday’s loss to the Falcons.

“I’m undrafted,” said Smith, a Miami safety/cornerback. “And so every time I go out there on this field, you know, putting the film out. I’m actually practicing for 31 other teams.”

Smith was born in Boca Raton, grew up in West Palm Beach and starred at Oxbridge Academy.

A longshot to make the 53-man roster when added after the draft out of Kentucky, Smith now has a legitimate shot to be one of the last few players to make the squad.

“You have to be confident,” Smith said Monday. “You can’s doubt yourself. And I think playing this game of football is 95% mental. So I come in here with a positive attitude, and going about things the right way.”

Smith, 6-foot-2, 201 pounds, has above -average mobility, instincts and play-making ability as a safety, after having playing most of his career at cornerback. But he also has the ability to play corner in a pinch.

“I’m in a new position, so I’ve got to learn fast and adapt,” Smith said.

Keidron Smith’s family is in West Palm Beach

Keidron (pronounced KEY-drun) had a good game in front of lots of brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins who drove down from Palm Beach.

“I think my family is more excited than me,” he said. “It was good, man. I’m just happy to be here, man. I can’t, I can’t say I’d want to be anywhere else.”
