Fans slam Al Michaels for NFL commentary

Amazon NFL commentator Al Michaels was roasted on social media for his lack of enthusiasm in calling a key play in the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.

On a play in the second quarter, Niners quarterback Brock Purdy found wideout Deebo Samuel on the first play of their third drive for a 76-yard touchdown to put San Francisco up 10-0.

As Purdy sprinted down the field wildly after his target to celebrate, fans took to social media slamming the way that Michaels called the play.

‘Al Michaels I will forever love you man but it may be time to hang em up,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.

‘Why is Al Michaels commentating like he’s on a 5-second tape delay??’ one tweet read.

‘Al Michaels just called a 38-yard run like a 3.8-yard run,’ another fan tweeted.

‘Al Michaels has to go. The call on that Deebo touchdown may have been the most underwhelming call ever,’ another tweet read.

But that wasn’t the only play that people took issue with. Seahawks return man Laviska Shenault brought a kickoff all the way back for a 97-yard return touchdown and people were still not impressed with Michaels.

‘Seahawks just returned a kick for a MASSIVE, game-changing 97-yard touchdown and Al Michaels sounded so bored as he made the call. He has NO energy anymore, just awful for tv. Get him out of there,’ another fan tweeted.

‘Al Michaels can you get excited lol,’ another fan tweeted.

The Niners-Seahawks game was incredibly close – with San Francisco leading by 20 before Seattle came crawling back into it.

It was a five point game late in the fourth quarter before the Niners scored a game-winning touchdown with fullback Kyle Juszczyk to seal a 36-24 victory.
