New York Giants quarterback and beloved New Jersey native Tommy DeVito are nearing an agreement on a new deal, although it’s unclear how far along that agreement is.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and others reported DeVito, 26, has agreed to sign his exclusive rights tender ahead of the league’s open free agency. He will make $1 million under terms of that tender agreement.
DailyMail.com was able to confirm that with one league source. However, when contacted by DailyMail.com, DeVito’s agent Sean Stellato said that nothing has been agreed to as of yet. Stellato wasn’t ruling out a deal in the near future, but cautioned that nothing has been finalized.
Although the former Syracuse and Illinois product does have experience, appearing in a dozen games over his first two seasons with mixed results, he’s unlikely to head into 2025 as Big Blue’s starting quarterback.
That honor may fall to erstwhile Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is expected by many to ink a free-agent deal with the Giants when the signing period begins. As NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton reported, the Giants are interested in bringing Rodgers on board, although no firm decision has been made.
DailyMail.com has since confirmed that Rodgers is ‘certainly’ part of the team’s quarterback considerations.
