Justin Fields rejected trade offers from four NFL teams before eventually being traded to the Steelers, the only team he wanted to play for as a former Chicago starter.

New Steelers quarterback Justin Fields reportedly blocked trades from four other NFL teams before finally being dealt to his ideal landing spot in Pittsburgh.

Fields was on the trading block for the last several months after the Bears were confirmed to have the No 1 overall draft choice in next month’s NFL Draft.

The top selection was always thought to be former Heisman Trophy Caleb Williams for over a year, deemed a cannot-miss prospect because of his dual-threat ability.

The writing was long on the wall long ago that Fields’ days in Chicago were numbered.

And in a quarterback-centric NFL, having a quality signal caller is paramount. And per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, four teams that were not the Steelers wanted to trade for Fields.

Fields was Chicago’s starting quarterback since being drafted No 11 overall in the 2021 draft

The identity of those teams are unknown but some likely candidates are the teams that at one point this offseason would have considered Fields and upgrade in their quarterback room.

Two teams squarely placed in that discussion would be the Atlanta Falcons, who opted to signed Kirk Cousins. That leaves Cousins’ former team, the Minnesota Vikings with a vacancy.

With the New England Patriots placed behind the Bears and Commanders, and also in need of a starting quarterback, inquiring about Fields makes a lot of sense. Same goes for the Raiders, who signed Gardner Minshew instead.

Fields will not be starting for the Steelers, as the team also signed Russell Wilson this offseason to a 1-year deal.

The Bears have also showed their hands that they will draft a quarterback designed to be their starter at next month’s draft.
