The Kansas City Chiefs are signing journeyman quarterback Gardner Minshew as cover for Patrick Mahomes.
Minshew, most recently with the Las Vegas Raiders, has agreed a one-year deal with the Chiefs.
He was released by the Raiders earlier this month, despite signing a two-year deal worth $25m last year with $15m guaranteed.
He beat out Aidan O’Connell for the starting job going into last season but struggled to hold on to the position.
Minshew finished with 10 interceptions and four lost fumbles while throwing nine touchdown passes. A broken collarbone ended his season November 24 against the Denver Broncos.
