Leonard Floyd faces death threats after Rodgers injury, plans to face him in Week 1

Leonard Floyd’s social media accounts were filled with hateful and vile messages after he delivered the sack that ruptured Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles last September.

Floyd, now has since signed for the 49ers from the Bills, has now revealed the death threats he received in the days following that eventful Monday Night Football clash.

In moving from Buffalo to San Francisco, Rodgers will have to stare down a defensive line for the second straight game with Floyd looking to bring him to the turf.

If there is someone outside the Jets’ organization who does not want deja vu, it’s Floyd, who says his intent was not to injure Rodgers four offensive snaps into his New York career.

Yet, the hate for Floyd came in strong in the days following the Jets-Bills encounter.

‘I hope you die. I hope something happens to your family,’  Leonard said as examples of messages he got after the Rodgers’ sack.

‘It was quite a few. It only happened after the game,’ Floyd continued. ‘I knew I wasn’t trying to hurt him because Aaron is really one of my favorites to go against, one of my favorites to watch.’

Floyd says he tries not to pay attention to the outside noise, but uses those messages as motivation.

Rodgers is fully healthy and will begin his second season with the Jets with high expectations, possibly the highest for a team with a quarterback over 40 ever not named Tom Brady.

Floyd was a menace against the Jets in the team’s second meeting of last season as well, bringing Zach Wilson to the turf just as he did Rodgers.

The 49ers have plenty of defensive weapons that Rodgers will have to subdue to walk out of San Francisco victorious on Monday evening.
