New England Patriots re-sign guard Michael Jordan

The Patriots have re-signed offensive lineman Michael Jordan to their practice squad – and fans had plenty of jokes referencing his more famous namesake after the team announced the news.

New England said on Friday that they had added the 26-year-old guard, who of course shares the name of the Chicago Bulls basketball legend, after waiving him from the active roster earlier this week.

And fans couldn’t resist mentioning basketball’s GOAT in response to the news.

‘Wow, I thought he retired from Basketball,’ one said.

‘Isn’t he a little old?,’ another joked.

And a third fan hilariously shared the Bulls Jordan’s famous ‘I’m Back’ un-retirement in the replies.

The less famous Jordan was a fourth-round pick in the 2019 draft by the Bengals, and spent two years in Cincinnati.

He then spent the next two seasons with the Panthers after being waived by the Bengals.

However, he was also let go by Carolina in the summer of 2023 before latching onto the Packers’ practice squad.

He then signed with the Patriots ahead of the 2024 season and played in 11 games this season.

Jordan had started in each of those contests for the 3-9 Patriots, who are 20th in the league in rushing yards at 112.8 per game.

New England will host the Colts this weekend.
