A reporter who works for the New England Patriots has bizarrely revealed that the team is already ‘teetering on mutiny’ after a poor start to the season.
The Patriots, now being coached by Jerod Mayo after Bill Belichick’s departure earlier this year, are 1-3 after four weeks.
They started the season well with a shock win over the Cincinnati Bengals but have since suffered defeats by the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is also under-performing with rookie Drake Maye lurking in the background.
They play the Miami Dolphins, who are also struggling, at home on Sunday but a Patriots insider has revealed the mood in the locker room is tense.
A reporter who works for the New England Patriots has said the team is ‘teetering on mutiny’
‘Right now they are teetering on mutiny in that locker room,’ Evan Lazar, a senior reporter for Patriots.com, said on the ‘Catch 22’ podcast, which is put on the team’s own website.
‘And I don’t want to be an alarmist or [be hyperbolic]… I don’t. But I was in that locker room after the game on Sunday. The defense is mad at the defense.
‘The offense is mad at the offense. You have young receivers who are literally throwing tantrums on film.’
Speaking about the quarterback situation, Lazar continued: ‘You’re at the point now with 52 other guys in that locker room that all watch both these two quarterbacks practice every single day.
‘That all know that they drafted Drake Maye third overall. And at what point in time do some of these guys say to themselves, “Why am I going out there and getting my butt kicked every single Sunday and Drake can’t?”

Lead back Rhamondre Stevenson, has been struggling to hang on to the ball in recent weeks
‘Like why am I going out there with a quarterback who can’t get me the football, when we’ve got the Ferrari back in the garage that can get me the football?
Lead back Rhamondre Stevenson, who started his season with a promising 120-yard performance on the ground against the Bengals, has been struggling to hang on to the ball.
He has one fumble in each of his four games, two of which have been recovered by opposing defenses. Because of those issues, Antonio Gibson could end up serving as RB1 on Sunday.
Whoever starts at running back will have to get to work behind an offensive line that is now without center David Andrews.
The nine-year veteran needs shoulder surgery that will likely sideline him for the rest of the season.
