Portnoy’s grim 2024 prediction for Patriots after blowout loss

Portnoy’s grim 2024 prediction for Patriots after blowout loss

Dave Portnoy is waving the flag for the New England Patriots by making a grim prediction for their offseason three games into the 2024 campaign.

During a Thursday night matchup, the post-Bill Belichick Patriots were on the receiving end of a 24-3 domination from their AFC East Rivals, the New York Jets.

As his team was getting blown out, the Barstool Sports chief and avid Massachusetts sports fan started calling the season off for the Patriots.

‘Pats may lose this game by 1000,’ Portnoy wrote on X before suggesting that the team will select first come draft day in April.

‘And with the 1st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the New England Patriots select Travis Hunter from Colorado,’ he wrote in the follow-up.

The day was brutal for quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who took a beating and got sacked five times by the Jets’ defense.

When he had breathing room, Brissett completed just 12 of 18 passes for 98 yards.

With the offense having a tough shift, clocking in 139 total yards, Portnoy suggested Brissett is not getting paid enough, likely because of the pressure he faces.

‘Whatever we’re paying Jacoby Brissett its not enough,’ he wrote in a follow-up on X.

Brissett was relieved by rookie Drake Maye, who made his NFL debut in the fourth quarter. However, the first-round pick did not help as he got sacked four times.

As Aaron Rodgers led the Jets offense with 27 completions in 35 attempts for 281 yards and two touchdowns, the Patriots defense could not hide from Portnoy’s comments.

‘Put skirts on em,’ Portnoy wrote. ‘Can’t tackle anymore apparently.’

The Patriots have gone 0-2 since opening their season with a thrilling 16-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

On the other hand, the Jets moved to 2-1 in the season. The Jets snapped a 15-game losing streak to New England in Week 18 last season and have won two straight against their rivals.
