Ex-NFL player Chad ‘Ochocino’ Johnson has been dumped by his therapist for ‘using derogatory language uncontrollably’, he has revealed in an emotional social media post.
The 47-year-old, who played the majority of his career for the Cincinnati Bengals, has faced struggles in the past.
He was arrested in 2012 on domestic violence charges after allegations were made by his then-wife, Evelyn Lozada, and they divorced soon after. He served a week in jail in 2013 when, at the hearing where he pleaded no contest to claims he headbutted Lozado, he slapped his male attorney’s buttocks.
On Tuesday, alongside a broken heart emoji, Johnson wrote on X: ‘Good morning, my therapist just terminated our remaining sessions & sent my deposit because I haven’t improved & I’m still using derogatory language uncontrollably at times.’
Johnson has previously said that he doesn’t drink because his later mother had struggles with alcohol.
‘Growing up, my mom was an alcoholic and she would drink, extremely heavily,’ he said last year. ‘Seeing her become someone I didn’t even recognize when she was consumed with alcohol was probably a reason why I stayed away from it when I was younger.’
In 2021 Johnson made an emotional appearance on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast where he wept while reflecting on his mother’s death.
