Tyreek Hill’s Bizarre Antigua Treatment

Tyreek Hill revealed that he received a unique treatment in Antigua to help with his durability ahead of the NFL season.

Hill, 30, made the trip to the Caribbean before training camp to receive stem cell therapy – a process that helps with blood flow in one’s body.

Now at the age when most athletes – especially in his position – slow down, Cheetah opened up about how the treatment has done wonders to help him stay in as sharp as possible.

‘Stem cells have been great,’ Hill said in a press conference. ‘I just got back from Antigua [on Monday], from doing stem cells and it’s been amazing.

‘Just helping me regenerate some of the cells in my body and giving me the correct blood flow that I need. So that’s been great.’

The process uses stem cells to promote healing and recovery in the body. Researchers grow stem cells – that can differentiate, or turn into, other types of cells – in a lab and implant them into a person to help repair damaged tissue.

While the effectiveness of the method is yet to be determined, stem cell therapy is yet to be approved by the FDA in the United States, hence the receiver flying to Antigua to receive it.

Another notable NFL star who tried the treatment was Peyton Manning, who had it done on his neck in 2011.

As for Hill, trying the experimental method was done in the name of elongating his career.

‘I feel like I’m going to be training my whole life because I feel like each and every year I’ve got to prove something to people,’ Hill said. ‘Because a lot of people feel like I’m not supposed to be doing what I’m supposed to be doing because of my size and my stature.

‘But it’s like.. Tom Brady said it the best — you don’t have to be the best or you don’t have to be the strongest or the tallest but as long as you stay consistent in what you do each and every day, you’ll be all right. And I feel like that’s who I’ve been my whole entire career.’

The speedy wideout is entering his ninth NFL season after recording a career-high 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns as the Dolphins finished with an 11-6 record. Miami’s season ended in a 7-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.
