Nico Williams has reportedly caused “growing anxiety” at Bayern Munich after agreeing personal terms with Barcelona.
Vincent Kompany’s side are actively chasing a new left winger following Leroy Sane’s free transfer move to Galatasaray and Williams, who was previously wanted by both Arsenal and Chelsea, has emerged as their top target in recent weeks.
However, Williams has agreed personal terms with Barcelona and Deco – the Blaugrana’s sporting director – has confirmed that he wants to join the club this summer.
Despite this, Bayern are yet to give up their pursuit of his signature and they have lodged a last-minute contract offer, as per multiple reports.
The Bundesliga champions believe that Barcelona may struggle to pay Williams’ €58 million release clause in full, and Spanish outlet Sport claim that Athletic Club would be willing to arrange more favourable payment terms with Bayern in order to ensure the 22-year-old leaves La Liga.
However, Williams’ agreement with Barcelona has caused “growing anxiety” at the Allianz Arena as they are struggling to sign their top transfer targets this summer.
Florian Wirtz has completed a record-breaking move to Liverpool despite significant interest from Bayern, while the German giants are currently failing to convince Williams to join the club. As a result, they are growing concerned by their ability to attract the best talent in Europe.

Bayern Munich’s transfer plan
If Bayern are unable to sign Williams, they have identified several alternative targets, including the likes of Rafael Leao, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Kaoru Mitoma and Gabriel Martinelli.
Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens is also on their radar, although he has set his sights on completing a summer move to Chelsea and he has already agreed personal terms with the west London outfit.
