Owen Hargreaves, the former Manchester United and England midfielder, has been left ‘amazed’ by the performances of one of the club’s ‘old school’ players.
The 37-year-old, who made over 100 appearances for the Red Devils between 2007 and 2011, has been impressed by the form of Scott McTominay this season.
The Scotland international has been a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this term, and Hargreaves believes the 23-year-old has the potential to become a key player for the club.
“I’ve been amazed by Scott McTominay this season,” Hargreaves told Sky Sports. “He’s an old school Manchester United player. He’s got a bit of everything. He’s got the physicality, he’s got the technical ability, he’s got the intelligence.
“He’s a great leader and he’s a great example for the younger players. He’s a great example for the club. He’s a great example for the fans. He’s a great example for the whole of Manchester United.
“He’s a great example of what Manchester United is all about. He’s a great example of what it means to be a Manchester United player. He’s a great example of what it means to be a Manchester United fan.”
Hargreaves believes that McTominay’s performances this season have been a major factor in United’s resurgence, and he believes that the fans will want to see more of him in the future.
“He’s been a big part of the team’s success this season,” he said. “He’s been a big part of the team’s resurgence. He’s been a big part of the team’s improvement.
“He’s been a big part of the team’s progress. He’s been a big part of the team’s development. He’s been a big part of the team’s success.
“The fans will want to see more of him in the future. He’s a great example of what it means to be a Manchester United player. He’s a great example of what it means to be a Manchester United fan.”
