England and Pakistan face off in the second T20I in Karachi on September 22. The visitors are leading the seven-match series after winning the first game by six wickets. The first four games of the series will be played in Karachi, while the final three in Lahire. The hosts have enough time to come back into the series.

After losing the Asia Cup final, the hosts were expected to make a roaring comeback at home. However, the visitors who are embarking o their first trip to Pakistan since 2005 have made a winning start to the series.  All the top T20I nations have announced their squads for the T20 World Cup. Hence this bilateral series is important for both sides from a preparation point of view.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi is not a part of this series. However, he is picked for the T20 World Cup. Babar Azam has a few concerns with the side. He is also struggling with his own form since the Asia Cup with people questioning his captaincy abilities as well. He lamented the team’s inability to capitalise in the final 10 overs with the bat after losing the first T20I.

“We utilized the batting powerplay well, but we let the momentum slip after the 10th over. Credit to their bowlers, but we were not up to the mark and we didn’t get the partnerships. They worked out the conditions well, but our batters should have done better. We’re trying different combinations before the World cup, we’ll test our bench strength and then go to the tournament with our best team” said Babar.

England, on the other hand, had a lot of positives from the first win. Alex Hales on his international comeback scored 53 off 40 balls. Like Wood on his T20I debut picked up 3/24. It was overall, clinical performance from the visitors with Moeen Ali leading the side in the absence of Jos Buttler. Buttler picked up a side strain and is expected to be fit for the last two games as per reports.
